Chup Circles is a self-help movement for gender equality led by thoughtful women and men engaging in conversations to transform their own mind-sets and habits and then change society. These are self-organized groups for all people.

Chup Circles are a safe place for deep conversations to transform from within, to reflect, and then change gender inequalities all around us.

Safe space

Within the safety of a Chup Circle, you will have honest conversations, share your experiences and build solidarity to make personal and systemic change. This will be a space for deep listening, compassion and non-judgment.

Shared Purpose

Chup Circles are for anyone who wants to grow their community of support. It brings people together for a shared purpose.

Creative Curriculum

Chup Circles are guided by a curriculum that uses creative processes to tap into life experiences. They add play, joy and laughter to learning in a way that is empowering.

How to Start a Chup Circle

Step 1

Write to us, two paragraphs on why you want to start a Chup Circle and your background, a little bit about yourself. We will respond within two days.

Step 2

Our staff will train you as a moderator and we request you to pay forward, train others when your group has completed the 10 sessions.

Step 3

Gather a group of 6 to 15 friends, colleagues, relatives, or neighbours. We will provide you with a structure and activities to guide your meetings. A group can be for a particular gender or mixed.

Step 4

Set a time and place for your meetings. The meetings are 2 1/2 hours and can take place once a week, twice a month, or once a month. Or can be done on three successive weekends. We provide activities for 10 sessions.

Step 5

Find a private, comfortable place for your meetings. It is best to choose a location where you won’t be interrupted as personal sharing can go deep within the circles and needs to be honored.
